Add/Sub Resynth

For this lab we will experiment with Additive and Subtractive synthesis in order to reproduce sounds that we have analyzed.

As discussed in the lecture, we will use a visual representation of the sound that shows amplitude over frequency (spectrum).

From this spectrum, we will estimate a recipe.  Draw it on paper.  100hz at full amplitude, 200 hz at half amplitude, etc, etc.

You will then use this recipe to reconstruct the sounds via additive synthesis (combining lots of sine waves).

And subtractive synthesis (starting with a square wave or noise and filtering out the frequencies that do not belong in your recipe).

This is an opportunity to explore the new tools and develop both listening, analytic and technical skills working with the rudiments of musical sound design.
